Arsenal fans see the funny side as Everton defeat means they are now officially out of the title race

ARSENAL’S 1-0 defeat at Everton officially ruled the North Londoners out of the title race – but Gunners fans don’t seem too upset by it.

Unai Emery’s side are 19 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with just six matches left and therefore cannot mathematically catch the Reds.

But even some supporters had to laugh at the confirmation as Arsenal’s dismal away record continues.

They have won just once away from home since November – that came at bottom side Huddersfield.

Posting on Reddit, one supporter wrote: “Damn, so close.”

Slywater03 replied: “Basically an Aguero moment.”

Boopdelahoop added: “Ah gutted I really thought we were in with a shout this year :(“

And Bacon4Daaaaays joked: “But I already got the tattoo for it!”

But some took the positive approach.

AbsolutXero said: “At least we are safe from relegation!”

And one very optimistic fan added: “Liverpool points deduction for Klopp running onto the field to celebrate an equaliser at Cardiff. City points deduction for shady deals. Then we’re back in it.”

It means Arsenal’s wait for a fourth Premier League title definitely goes on.

Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles of 2003/04 were the last Gunners side to win the league.

However, they have already matched their points tally for the entirety of last season with 63.

But the away form is still a major issue – the club are yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this season.

So it was no surprise when Everton opened the scoring yesterday – although the source was unexpected.

Phil Jagielka – brought in for the ill Michael Keane – was in the right place at the right time to prod home the only goal of the game and his first in two years.
